Safe Schools Tipline -- 425-431-7010

Please take a moment to remind your family and students about our SAFE SCHOOLS TIPLINE - 425-431-7010. It is important to know that our staff work to make schools safe and caring places. We strongly encourage and frequently remind students to report any safety concerns directly to a trusted adult at home or at school. Still, we know that when students become aware of unsafe people or situations, it can be very difficult for some to report as they are fearful or feel pressure from others to keep things secret. We want students to help us keep their schools safe, and to break any "code of silence" if one exists, with respect to matters that can impact the safety of their schools.

If you or your student were to suspect or become aware of any students or adults in a school who are planning or acting in any unsafe way, please let us know. This includes, but is not limited to, the use or possession of drugs, knives, guns, and/or threats to injure, bully, or assault others. If you or your students are not comfortable talking directly with staff at the school level, use the SAFE SCHOOLS TIPLINE at 425-431-7010. It is a fast, effective, and safe way to let us know about the unsafe situation and not worry about being identified as the source of the information.

The SAFE SCHOOLS TIPLINE is on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. "Tips" will be referred to school or law enforcement authorities as deemed appropriate. When a person calls the "TIPLINE" they will hear the following:

"Thank you for calling the Safe Schools Tipline. If this is an emergency, please hang up and dial 911 now. To report a concern about safety at one of the schools in the Edmonds School District, please listen carefully to the rest of this message and wait for the tone to leave your message. After you hear the tone, state clearly and slowly the name of the school, a description of the unsafe situation, and provide the names or descriptions of the persons involved to the best of your ability. You don't need to have all the information, but the better "tip" you provide, the better we can follow up and help keep your school safe. Thank you for your call" (tone) ..........

The image above is a sample of the information found on banners and posters in our schools. The SAFE SCHOOLS TIPLINE is intended to give students and parents an easy way to report unsafe situations and help us work together in this important area. Please spend some time with your students today sharing this information and discussing with them the importance of their help to keep their school safe. If you have any questions about the TIPLINE, please feel free to contact our Community Relations office at 425-431-7045.
